Youth Workshops and World Music in Schools

Nansady and Geraldine offer youth workshops, and specific world music session in schools (these may comprise one off sessions or a series leading to a showcase).  Introduction to the djembe and dundun drums, including the social significance of the rhythms in the traditional culture of the Hamana region of Guinea are some of the areas covered.  The objectives of our workshop are to create a fun learning environment, cultural exchange and making music together.  Each workshop differs considerably in terms of the participant's ages, numbers, abilities and backgrounds as well as the equipment and space available for us to use, so we tailor the workshops to suit the needs of the group.

These workshops are suitable for all young people, including children with a physical disability or learning disability, or both. Drumming is a tool that enables individuals to overcome personal and social barriers. The workshops are fun and inclusive, and provide a platform for creativity and participation.

If you would like a youth workshop or world music session in your school, contact us.
